Dora Scott lived in Wahroonga, on the corner of Braeside Street

There was a little lady who needed no fine clothes to tell us of her place in life.

Her garden was her dress. The flowers glowed around her and the leaves and branches of the trees and shrubs wafted sweetness and freshness. The spontaneous planting drew a picture of comfort and strength, and a restfulness for everyone who walked in the garden or just passed by looking in to see if Dora might happen to be there.

Dora Scott was the delightful, generous lady who lived in Wahroonga, on the corner of Braeside Street and Wahroonga Avenue. She had a smile and a greeting for all who knew her, or those who just admired her garden with her little dog Georgie at her side.

Dora Scott moved back to her home town of Dubbo just last year, leaving her much-loved garden that she gave so many hours to tend. She left her own epitaph in the garden as well as so many tokens of herself in the plants and bulbs and cuttings that she gave to her friends, admirers and random passers-by.

Dora Scott left this life last month. After 50 years in Wahroonga, we have missed you last year but your presence will always be in your garden. We cannot forget you.
