On Thursday 20 October Turramurra Community Bank branch celebrated its second birthday, an event that proved the community bank's financial viability.
"In this last 12 months we've grown by just on $25 million and another thousand accounts," said Chairman David Langdon.
"We have actually achieved our first profit, in the first quarter of this financial year. We are cash flow positive."
There was a warm turn out to celebrate the occasion with shareholders, customers and local dignitaries coming together for the occasion.
The event also saw Bob Ivey of Ku-ring-gai Rotary Club present a 'Pride of Workmanship' award to customer service officer Debbie Chape for her outstanding contribution to the bank.
Ms Chape has worked with the bank since its inception and was shocked to receive the award.
"Thank you, that's all I can say, I'm stoked," she said upon receiving her award.
Mr Langdon said that "Bringing back customer service, returning profit to our community, stimulating our local business, breathing life back into our local precincts and keeping our bank in Turramurra," were the aims the bank set out to achieve.
The bank's success is built on a $60 million portfolio as well as contributions to the community clubs and projects.
"Our portfolio is right up there with the best of best community banks in Australia."
